Worship Gathering Banned in Kengweng village, Saybuli district, Savannakhet province

Officials have now banned Christians from Sunday worship gathering in Kengweng village where Christianity has been established and practiced for 40 years. Any worship gathering in the future must be approved by authorities. Tight restrictions over religious gathering are now spreading in Savannakhet province.
The takeover of the Kengweng church and the ban of any future worship gathering came during the same time that the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Committee, a central agency in charge of religous affairs, was holding its 2nd Ordinary Plenary Session of the 9th Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Committee (see article).
